If you want to wake up with eyes that look awake, you've probably weighed up a lash lift against extensions. Both are lovely; they just suit different people. Here's a straight comparison from someone who does them.
What's the difference?
A Korean lash lift works with the lashes you already have. It gently lifts and curls them from the root, and with a tint added they look darker, longer and beautifully open — no added lashes, no glue. A lash extension set adds individual synthetic lashes on top of your own with adhesive, for more length and volume than your natural lashes alone.
How long does each last?
A Korean lash lift typically lasts six to eight weeks — essentially until your natural lashes grow out and shed on their own cycle. Extensions last around two to three weeks before needing infills as your natural lashes shed, so they ask for more frequent upkeep.
Upkeep and lifestyle
This is usually the deciding factor. A lash lift is wonderfully low-maintenance: no infills, no brushing routine, and you can wear mascara if you fancy it. Extensions need a bit more care — gentle cleansing, no oil-based products near the eyes, and regular infill appointments to keep them looking full.
If you want "my lashes but better" with almost no fuss, a lift is ideal. If you want maximum drama and don't mind the maintenance, extensions deliver that.
What about your natural lashes?
A properly done lash lift is very gentle and doesn't damage your natural lashes. Extensions are safe too when applied correctly and not picked at, but the main risk with any lash treatment is rubbing or pulling, so be kind to them.
A note on patch tests
Whichever you choose, a patch test at least 48 hours beforehand is needed if you're new to the treatment — it's a small step that keeps things safe, especially with tint involved.
My take
For most of my clients who want an easy, natural, time-saving result, the Korean lash lift is the sweet spot — pair it with brow lamination and your whole eye area looks polished for weeks.
